TV Tower worker falls 1,000 feet to his death in Alleman, Iowa

ALLEMAN, Iowa- A man is dead after falling a-thousand feet from a TV tower in Alleman, north of Des Moines this morning (Wednesday).

The Polk County Sheriff's Office has confirmed the fatality. Crews were called to 14723 NW 2nd Street around 10:50 a.m. on a report someone had fallen from the KDSM tower.

The Sheriff's Office says two employees for PCI Communications, out of Texas, were conducting repairs at around 1,000 feet when one of them fell. The worker who died was a 50-year-old male. His name has not been released.

The station has been off the broadcast air for about a week now, although Channel 17 is broadcasting on cable. The television station posted an update (below) today on its Facebook page about repair efforts.
