Severe storms, Flash Flooding risk Nebraska and Iowa STORM & RAIN MAPS

DES MOINES, Iowa - Severe storms are possible across the region from Nebraska through Iowa and into Illinois this weekend.

Most of Iowa, the Southeast Corner of Nebraska, and Southwest Illinois are at highest risk in our region, including the major population areas of Omaha, Des Moines, Ames, Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Waterloo, Dubuque, and Davenport and all of Southern Iowa.

A Flash Flood watch is posted for this afternoon through Sunday morning for most of these areas Very Heavy rain is possible.

2-3 inches of rain is possible in Des Moines and Ames, much of Southwest Iowa, a pocket around Ottumwa in Southeastern Iowa, and the region Northeast of Fort Dodge into Mason City.

1.5 to 2 inches of rain is possible in many other parts of Iowa, including Council Bluffs, Fort Dodge, Osceola, Marshalltown, Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Waterloo, Dubuque, and Davenport.

The threat of heavy rain in Nebraska starts just south of Omaha, and extends into the Southeast corner of the state.

In the Quad Cities area the Mississippi River is now expected to move back into Major Flood state late next week after the heavy rain that is expected in Davenport and Moline, as well as to the north along the Mississippi River valley.
