All U.S. diplomats are now out of Venezuela. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo confirmed their departure in a tweet yesterday, saying the U.S. remains firm in its support for the Venezuelan people and opposition leader Juan Guaido. Pompeo added the diplomats look forward to returning to a free and democratic Venezuela in the future. The State Department had previously announced the withdrawal of its diplomatic staff amid a political crisis over the disputed re-election of President Nicolas Maduro. The Trump administration called the 2018 election a fraud and recognized Guaido as Venezuela's interim leader.
