Monday starts with clouds but quiet weather. Snow will spread in this afternoon and evening, mainly after 3 p.m. Overnight, snow continues and will be heavy at times. South of I-80, a bit of freezing rain or sleet may occasionally mix in with the snow. Snow lasts through Tuesday and will be heaviest in the morning, gradually tapering off toward evening.
Winds will pick up from the northwest at 20 to 30 mph, gusting to 40, causing blowing and drifting snow. This will make it even harder for crews to keep roads cleared off.
Snowfall amounts around 6" and greater should happen generally north of Highway 30, with lower amounts south of there.
We have a break on Wednesday before a slight chance of a wintry mix comes by on Thursday, followed by a snow chance Friday.
