Over 100 weekend crashes in CR

The inches of snowfall Cedar Rapids received Saturday wrought havoc on the community's roadways.

Cedar Rapids police said on Facebook, Sunday, officers handled 128 accidents as of 9:00 p.m. the previous evening.

In one instance, a squad car responding to a jackknifed semi near Bowling and 29th Avenue Southwest was hit by another vehicle. The resulting collision became an eight-car pileup. Authorities didn't mention any injuries.

Parts of Cedar Rapids saw more than four inches of snow. Totals became heavier further south with some places, like Washington, seeing about nine inches of snowfall.
