Michigan Man Who Shot At Lost Teen Sentenced To At Least Four Years In Jail

A Michigan man who made headlines after he shot at a lost teenager who knocked on his door was sentenced to a maximum of ten years in jail and will serve a minimum of four years behind bars. 53-year-old Jeffrey Zeigler was convicted of assault with attempt to do great bodily harm and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony in October.

Zeigler claimed that he shot at 14-year-old Brennan Walker because he believed the teenager was trying to break into his home. Walker said that he had missed his school bus and knocked on Zeigler's door hoping to get directions to his high school.

A shirtless Zeigler confronted the lost teen with a shotgun, who ran off as soon as he saw the weapon. Surveillance footage captured the moment that Zeigler pointed the gun at Walker and opened fire as the terrified teenager ran for his life. While Walker was not physically injured, his mother said that he has been in therapy following the April incident.

Zeigler will be eligible for parole after four years.
