Prospect Meadows sports complex at the intersection of County Home Road and Highway 13 is set to open in 2019.
Earth work began in October 2017 on the access road to the Prospect Meadows ball fields. The $13.6-million dollar project is expected to break ground on the ball fields and facilities in spring of 2018. (Dave Franzman/KCRG-TV9)
Jack Roeder, General Manager of Prospect Meadows. says they expect to host their first tournament in the late spring/early summer of 2019.
“We are excited to roll out a new logo and a new look to signify that phase one of the project is rounding third and headed home,” Roeder said.
Although enough money has been raised to open the facility, Roeder says they are still fundraising to reach the goals to have amenities at the complex.
In order to do so, they've partnered with Metro Area Rotary Clubs for a donor wall.
Donors will receive an inscribed baseball placed on a wall shaped in the state of Iowa and colored to match the American flag if they donate $500.
The wall will be one of the first things visitors see at the complex.
“Making a donation to Prospect Meadows is an investment into the youth and economy of our community,” said Dave Sorg, member of the Cedar Rapids Downtown Rotary Club.
