A Marion movie theater that specialized in showing "second run" movies for years is switching gears beginning November 2nd.
The Collins Road Theatres on Wednesday. The theater is making a switch to all new movies November 2nd.
The Collins Road Theatres will switch to showing new movies on that date so customers won't have to wait until just-released movies can play there.
Ticket prices will go up slightly to reflect the cost of booking new movies. Matinees will remain at $5 per ticket, and evening shows will be $7 for adults and $5 for children under 12. The owner says it will still be cheaper than other first run theaters in the area.
Bruce Taylor says one reason for the switch is waiting for a later release date meant a lot more competition from video services.
"We had our own little market. But people were getting tired of waiting. The landscape has changed quite a bit since we opened 15 years ago," he said.
Taylor says so far the reaction from customers to the upcoming switch has been positive.
Collins Road Theatres was originally built as a first run movie house in the 1980s.
