IOWA CITY, IA (KCRG-TV9)-- Some environmentalist in Iowa City helped clean up the Terry Trueblood Recreational Area on Sunday.
They worked to remove some of the invasive honeysuckle growing there. Getting rid of the invasive plant will allow for new growth when they do a controlled burn.
More than 30 people of all ages helped in the cleanup. Organizers say it's important for people to be involved in keeping Mother Nature healthy.
“We had a good turnout today,” said city worker Dan Isabel. “Definitely good to see people come out in the community and see them do a good job." Officials hope to do the burn within the next couple of weeks.
