Following a win on the road against the Indiana Hoosiers, the Iowa Hawkeyes football team is ranked in the top 25 for the first time this season.

New rankings by the Associated Press released Sunday place the Hawkeyes as the number 19 team in Division I FBS football. They join other Big Ten teams Ohio State (2), Michigan (6), Penn State (18), Wisconsin (23) and Michigan State (24) as being ranked among the best in college football. In the Amway/USA Today Coaches Poll, Iowa was ranked number 22.
Iowa (5-1, 2-1 Big Ten) had their conference championship chances improve with a dominating win against Indiana on Saturday 42-16. They received an assist from Michigan, who beat Big Ten West division leaders Wisconsin (4-2, 2-1 Big Ten) 38-13 to put them in a tie for first place in the division. The Badgers hold the tiebreaker against Iowa after a 28-17 victory in Iowa City on September 22.
Iowa hosts Maryland (4-2, 2-1 Big Ten) in their Homecoming game on Saturday, October 20 at 11 a.m.
