PALO, Iowa (KCRG) -- People in Palo are already taking flood precautions into their own hands.
A group of volunteers started making sandbags on Tuesday in preparation of this week's storm. They plan to put the sandbags around the homes that gathered the most water in 2016's flood. The city says, in times like these, people need to stick together and be ready for the worst.
"We have a lot of volunteers right now that came out to help. The sooner we can get this done, [then] we don't have to scramble at the end," Lenna Goodale, Palo Deputy City Clerk, said.
The city says it doesn't need any more volunteers at this time.
