CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Today kicks off the wet pattern that looks to go through most of next week. As for today's rainfall timing, the morning activity has been quick to move east, and we probably won't see much again until the mid-afternoon hours. Rapid storm development is likely into the evening with a risk of very heavy rainfall.
As has been our consistent message the last two days, rainfall amounts for tonight will probably be in the 1-3" range from a Dubuque-Cedar Rapids line and points to the southeast. Football games will be impacted. Lesser amounts are likely northwest of this line. The risk of flash flooding is present as an incredible amount of moisture is available for these storms to work with on already saturated ground.
This weekend, periodic bouts of rain remain likely, with risks of heavy rain again in our area going into next week.
