MECHANICSVILLE, Iowa (KCRG) - Meteorologists confirm a weak tornado touched down Tuesday afternoon as severe weather moved through Eastern Iowa.

The tornado touched down in a rural area about a mile-and-a-half southeast of Mechanicsville at about 1:53 p.m.. Officials said the tornado was 20 yards wide and was on the ground for several hundred feet before lifting. The tornado was ranked an EF-0 with winds of 80 m.p.h. Two grain bins were damaged.
The storm that produced the tornado was part of a system that prompted tornado warnings earlier Tuesday afternoon.
Minor tree damage was reported in parts of Linn, Jones and Cedar Counties.
No injuries were reported.
