CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- UPDATE: Cedar Rapids Police tell TV9 that they have arrested a man for arson.
Police arrested Grant Michael Ajango for 2nd-degree arson and 3rd-degree burglary.
This is for the intentional fire at 1445 1st Avenue SE.
A witness gave a description to police saying they saw Ajango exiting the building just as fire and smoke became visible.
Police officers found him in the 1400 block alley between 2nd and 3rd Avenue SE.
In addition, Ajango was found in possession of items that were reported stolen from the Casey’s General Store, 1201 1st Avenue SE, at approximately the same time as the arson fire.
Police also arrested him for 5th-degree theft. Authorities also arrested Ajango for trying to set a truck on fire on August 11. He is also awaiting trial for a sexual abuse charge in Johnson County from 2016.
