CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) - Periods of rain and thunderstorms are with us today. The best chance will be this morning, then again after 3 or 4 this afternoon and through the evening.
Rainfall potential is generally trending upward compared to how it looked yesterday, and more of us are likely to get at least a half-inch. Those who get repeated or slow-moving thunderstorms will have locally higher amounts.
Storms later today could be strong and produce gusty winds, but that risk depends on how much sunshine squeezes in this afternoon. Storms should wind down by midnight.
Isolated showers are possible tomorrow, mainly in northeastern Iowa. Otherwise, it'll be breezy with highs around 75 to 80. The weekend and next week look great with highs mainly in the lower to middle 80s and partly to mostly sunny skies.
