Second CR Shooting Injures Woman

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Cedar Rapids Police are investigating another shooting on the city's southwest side that left a woman injured.

Police said it happened about 5:50 p.m. at the Shamrock Apartments on 16th Avenue SW. Officers said they found an adult female with a gunshot wound to the leg in front of 410 Jacolyn Drive.

Emergency crews took her to a hospital with what police said are non-life threatening injuries.

Officers are talking to witnesses and gathering evidence. They said they will not release additional information at this time.

Earlier Wednesday afternoon police responded to a shooting in the 1400 block of 5th Avenue SE that sent a man to the hospital.

Police have not said if they think the shootings are related.
