MARION, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) - "Uptown Marion" is going to make the city's downtown area look a lot more patriotic this summer.
Organizers are planning to replace the old banners downtown with new ones. The plan is to honor veterans and current military members who have ties to Marion.
People can pay $150 to sponsor a banner.
Each banner features an honoree's military photo, name, branch, rank, and dates of service.
"It's a great gift for Fathers Day coming, and it's great that it's right before Memorial Day," Uptown Marion program director Brooke Prouty said.
Organizers are accepting applications for the banners up until June 8.
Prouty says a portion of the money will be donated to charity.
