Mid-Prairie Superintendent May Resign

WELLMAN, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- The superintendent of the Mid-Prairie school district in Wellman could resign if the school board votes no confidence this week.

The vote comes after he allowed a convicted sex offender to be a school volunteer.

Trent Yoder helped build sets during the last four high school plays-- under the condition another adult be present. He took an Alford plea in 1998 after authorities said he videotaped a high school athlete changing her clothes. He served a few weeks in jail and four years probation.

In April, the school board held a special meeting on the matter. During that meeting, Superintendent Mark Schneider said he would only continue in his role if he had the board's confidence.

A vote is set for 7 p.m. Monday at the school board meeting in the high school gym in Wellman. If the board votes no, it would be effective June 30th.
