MARION, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Designers are optimistic Marion's new skate park will be open by the end of October. They're figuring out the design for the park now so it'll best serve all ages and skill levels.
The city held an open house to ask for feedback on Tuesday night.
Designers want both skateboarders and BMX bikers to use the area.
The park will be located in Butterfield Park. The designer says this park will be able to connect skateboarders together.
"It's really important to get kids off the couch, off the screen, get them out doors and connecting with other people staying active staying happy," Vincent Onel said.
They'll finalize the design in a couple of months, and then construction will begin. The city hopes to unveil the new park on October 31st.
