CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9)-- Neighbors are concerned about the number of burglaries happening in a specific area of Cedar Rapids.
On Sunday, a woman was hurt and later died in this part of town. Her murder occurred in the same area of these burglaries.
It's the area between I-380 and the Cedar River. And between 16th Avenue and 33rd Avenue southwest. (see pdf map at right)
Police want to see any surveillance video or pictures that homeowners might have, specifically from 4 to 8:30 a.m. on Sunday. That's when authorities say several burglaries happened on this side of town.
At this point, police haven't said if they have any leads, or if they think the same person, or group of people, are responsible for the burglaries.
Gina Frederiksen died on Sunday after police say Timothy Evans assaulted and killed her in a detached garage. It happened along I Street Southwest around 7:30 Sunday morning.
Evans is accused of breaking into that garage and then setting it on fire.
He faces murder, arson and burglary charges.
