UPDATE: Linn Mar Nurse Arrested, Fired

LINN COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Beik has been terminated by the UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s Hospital.

Linn-Mar Community School District released this statement regarding the arrest Wednesday afternoon:

"The safety and well-being of our students will always be our first and foremost concern. What’s important now is that we get back to focusing on what we do best and that’s educating our kids.

Recent events do not change the behavior that is expected of our students. If our teachers or staff see behavior that is inappropriate it will be handled appropriately. If students see behavior that is inappropriate, they should say something.

Again, what’s important now is that we get back to education.

Our school counselors are always available to our students. If a student feels the need to discuss this matter with them, the district is confident in their ability to guide the student through this situation."

A former Linn-Mar High School nurse has been arrested.

Authorities say Beik had sexual contact with a 16-year-old male who was a student at the school during the time of the alleged incidents.

The incidents happened over a period of several months.

On March 19, the Cedar Rapids Police Department was notified of the alleged incidents and has been conducting an investigation in cooperation with the Marion Police Department and Linn County Attorney's Office.

Beik has been charged Sexual Exploitation by a Counselor, Therapist, or School Employee.
