CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Supporters of Cedar Rapids' historic buildings are bidding farewell to a significant page in the story of downtown.
The group Save CR Heritage is holding a recognition of the Bever Building on First Avenue SE.
It used to house Sub City which closed back in December.
The building dates back to 1923.
It was slated for demolition earlier, but the historic preservation commission put a 60-day hold on that process.
The commission wanted to see what, if anything, could be saved.
You can help them say goodbye to the building at 4:30 p.m. on April 9.
Crews will demolish the buildings on April 10 to make room for a new Skogman Realty headquarters.
Skogman plans to hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the $11 million project in June.
