Shooting Injures One in Washington, IA

WASHINGTON, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- A shooting last night in the town of Washington put one man in the hospital.

It happened just before seven last night at 106 South B Avenue, which is in downtown Washington near the county courthouse. A woman who lives across the street said she was watching TV when she heard sirens.

"There was yellow crime tape hung and seven or eight police cars and a sheriff's car, and so we were definitely trying to figure out what was going on," said Brenda McAvoy of Washington.

Authorities have not said anything about the shooting itself and they have not released the name or condition of the man who was injured. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is also helping with this case.
