UPDATE: Name Released in Waterloo Shooting

WATERLOO, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Authorities say 20-year-old Abrahm Rivas-Ortiz was shot and taken to the ER by private vehicle. Authorities say he was treated for what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident is still under investigation.

Police said it happened around 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the 1100 block of Langley Road. Neighbors reported hearing gunshots and seeing vehicles fleeing the area. Officers stopped at least one person within a block of the area.

Not long after that police received a report of a person arriving at a hospital with a gunshot wound.

Police cordoned off part of the parking lot behind the apartment building at 1139 Langley Road. Tire tracks could be seen from the parking lot, across the grass and sidewalk and into the street.

Police also closed off the parking area behind a duplex at 1121-1125 Oleson Road. Police transported several witnesses from the Oleson Road address.

Police have not yet released the name or condition of the victim.
