MARION, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) - The Marion Police Department is making an effort to hear more from people.
Today, the department held its first-ever listening session.
They wanted to hear people's opinions and what they like or don't like about the department.
There weren't too many complaints but some suggested things like increased speeding enforcement on certain roads.
One officer says he was really happy with how it turned out.
"In the world we live in sometimes police aren't viewed the way I viewed cops growing up knowing I wanted to be an officer so hearing that from the community, knowing they appreciate what we do that means a lot," public information officer Tom Daubs said.
The police department is in the middle of developing its five-year plan and will look to incorporate the suggestions into that.
