CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) -- Cedar Rapids Police are investigating after a body was discovered on the city's southwest side Sunday afternoon.

Authorities had blocked off an area near 505 33rd Avenue SW around 2:45 p.m.
According to a news release, police found an unconscious male outside the empty commercial property, which is used as an overflow homeless shelter.
Officers later determined the man was deceased.
Police on scene said the man was believed to be in his 70s and a client of the shelter. Those that knew the man told authorities he hadn't seemed ill earlier in the day.
Law enforcement said the incident was considered an "unattended death" for the time being but said the investigation is ongoing. A medical examiner had been called in to help determine a cause of death.
