IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Parishioners showed their solidarity for gun violence victims today at a church in Iowa City.
Trinity Episcopal Church rang its bell seven times Wednesday evening, once for each life lost to gun violence so far this year in Iowa. The church dedicated today's litany to the Florida victims. The priest told TV9 the motivation came as the nation's violence seems more prevalent than ever.
"We're a part of something that's much larger than ourselves. We're a part of something that's much larger than our church. What it feels like to me is many different people approaching this issue that causes a lot of terrible pain from a lot of different points of view,” said Trinity Episcopal Church Reverend Lauren Lyon.
