$380,000 in question on Iowa state internet service

Iowa's Auditor of State did a special investigation after executives of the Iowa Communications Network had concerns over the purchase of some equipment.

Mary Mosiman identified a number of management decisions made by ICN's Executive Director, Richard Lumbard, which she says were not in the taxpayers’ best interest.

It showed nearly $380,000 in improper disbursements and undeposited collections.

The ICN's website says it provides Internet services for the state.

Copies of her report have been filed with the Division of Criminal Investigation, the Polk County Attorney’s Office, and the Attorney General’s Office.

You can read her report here.
