RIVERSIDE, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- The parents of a Washington County toddler are facing child endangerment resulting in death charges following her death.
Authorities arrested 29-year-old Ambrashia Chrzan and 36-year-old Anthony McCoy of Riverside Thursday, October 19, 2017.
Chrzan found her daughter unresponsive in her crib on November 9, 2016. A University of Iowa Hospitals pathologist conducted an autopsy the next day.
The medical examiner told the Des Moines Register Avery McCoy weighed 11 pounds when she died in November 2016. He said the exact cause was undetermined, but malnutrition and neglect significantly contributed to the death.
McCoy and Chrzan have 11 other children. One brother died before Avery.
If convicted, the couple each face up to 50 years in prison.
