Monday night, the Marion High School Poms Team collected handbags and other personal care items for women at Waypoint Services in Cedar Rapids.

Girls on the poms team say they wanted to find a way to empower women.

They hope the women use these items during a job interview.

Poms team members say they had fun collecting and putting together these purses.

"I filled it with feminine products, shampoo and conditioner, hairspray and a bunch of makeup just stuff that will help them get back on their feet," Senior Autumn Hardman said.

Tomorrow afternoon the team's captains will drop off all the handbags at Waypoint.
