JOHNSON COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG TV9)-- Three stolen cars in one town in just a matter of weeks. The Johnson County Sheriff's Office is trying to figure out if the cases are related.

The three reported stolen vehicles happened in Solon, in just a few days time. The keys were left inside each stolen vehicle.

Sheriff Lonny Pulkrabek says stolen vehicles are typically known as "crimes of opportunity," or when the crime happens without much planning because the criminal sees an easy chance to steal something.

That's why he's reminding people to lock up their vehicles.

"Common sense in today's world, even though you live in a small town, you don't leave your keys in your car and lock your doors to your house," Pulkrabek.

Sheriff Pulkrabek says the investigation into these vehicle thefts spans several counties. So far, no arrests have been made.
