Iowa man charged with killing mother with Les Paul guitar

(Burlington, Iowa)   A Burlington, Iowa man charged with killing his mother with a guitar, was to appear in Des Moines County Court by video this morning, to face charges.  

Twenty-nine-year-old Garret Selters was taken into custody Tuesday of this week, after police were called to a home in the 16-hundred block of Lincoln Street in Burlington.  

Officers found Selters, along with 56-year-old Linda Selters, who was suffering life-threatening injuries. She was taken to a Burlington Hospital then airlifted to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.  She died late Tuesday night.

The Burlington Hawkeye newspaper is reporting authorities said it appears Linda Selters was struck several times in the head with a blunt instrument.   The newspaper is reporting the weapon used was a Les Paul guitar.

Selters is being held on a million dollar bond.
