(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- An investigation is underway after a house fire in Cedar Rapids left two people displaced.

The Cedar Rapids Fire Department says they responded to reports of a fire coming from the back of a two-story home in the 1800 Block of Mallory Street SW Thursday, October 10, at around 7:46 p.m. and confirmed there was a significant fire in the back porch area that was threatening to spread to the house.

Crews were able to quickly extinguish the flames and do a thorough search of the home to determine no occupants were inside.

Iowa's News Now reports one adult and one child were home at the time of the fire but were able to safely escape before crews arrived.
