(Iowa City, IA) -- Many residents around the University of Iowa remained without power until mid-morning today as crews worked to restore downed power lines from last night's storms. MidAmerican says power was out to several residents in the Riverside Drive and River Road areas in Iowa City.

Wind gusts of 72 miles per hour were reported in Cedar County. Cedar Rapids had reports of 65 mile per hour winds.

Some farm buildings were destroyed near Postville.

Iowa's News Now reports several semis also had trouble during Tuesday's storm, including on Highway 20 in Buchanan County, where a jackknifed semi held blocked traffic until crews could get it moved.

The wind also jack-knifed a semi that had Interstate 80 closed east of West Branch for a time.
