Hawkeyes to Compete at Big Ten Indoor Championships

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Eight University of Iowa men's tennis student-athletes return to action this weekend at the Big Ten Indoor Singles and Doubles Championships held at the Dillon Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Nebraska. 

A season ago, the Hawkeyes dominated the first day of play at the event advancing a Big Ten-best eight total matches.

Last weekend at ITA Central Regionals,Oliver Okonkwoand Will Davies became the first Hawkeyes in more than three decades to be doubles finalists. Senior Kareem Allaf had a nice run in the singles bracket before falling in the semifinals.Allaf is now sixth all-time in singles victories in program history.

Quoting Mellecker Family Head Coach Ross Wilson

“The Big Ten Indoor Tournament is an opportunity to see where our players stack up against other competition in our conference. We’ve had a successful fall season and are looking for another strong performance this weekend.”

Draws will be announced later this week with action beginning Friday morning.
