More Rounds of Heavy Rain

CEDAR RAPIDS, iowa (KCRG) - Scattered thunderstorms are likely today, some with the capability of heavy rainfall. The ground simply cannot take any more moisture, and nearly all of this rainfall will run off into creeks, streams and rivers. Localized flash flooding is possible as well. Multiple rounds of rainfall remain likely today and some spots will easily exceed 1" of rain. Tonight through Wednesday morning, the story remains the same with heavy rain and flooding the main problem.

Rivers are rising, and latest forecasts continue to call for flooding in the Iowa and Cedar basins over the next seven to ten days. Considerable flooding will continue at Coralville Lake as it remains at a record October level. A sharp cold front will end this pattern by lunchtime Wednesday, allowing for falling temperatures going into the afternoon.

Look for the sun to shine again on Thursday along with much cooler temperatures.
