Police Arrest Attempted Murder Suspect in Des Moines

A man wanted in Cedar Rapids for attempted murder was arrested early Saturday in Des Moines.

Des Moines Police Sgt. Paul Parizek says 21-year-old Zevon Johnson led police on a long foot chase around bar closing in the Court Ave. District before he surrendered and was arrested.

According to Cedar Rapids Police, Johnson was wanted for a shootout between him and another man from back on January 28th.

A warrant was issued for Johnson for attempted murder, intimidation with a dangerous weapon, carrying weapons, and going armed with intent charges.

Cedar Rapids Police say Johnson and 23-year-old Michael Hodges exchanged gunfire at Pub 217 in the 200 block of 3rd Street SE. Hodges wasn't hurt, but Johnson was shot in the upper chest.

Hodges was arrested earlier this month and is in the Linn County Jail.

Johnson is being held in the Polk County Jail and is expected to be transported to the Linn County Jail next week.
