Cedar Rapids Man Sentenced to 19 Years

IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- A Cedar Rapids man charged with attempted murder has decided to plea guilty to lesser charges for stabbing a man and trying to run him over in June 2017.

Ronald Gonterman has pleaded guilty to willful injury causing serious injury, going armed with intent, assault with a dangerous weapon, and first-degree harassment..

Last summer, the victim told police Gonterman stabbed him four times in the back, shot at him several times, and tried to run him over with his his pickup.

This all happened in an area near the Hawkeye Wildlife Management Area at Swan Lake Road and Greencastle Avenue in Johnson County.

A judge on Monday sentenced Gonterman to 19 years in prison.
