Hwy 151 Crash Sends One to Hospital

LINN COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- A crash involving a pickup and a semi-truck and trailer sent one man to the hospital, according to the Linn County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said it happened about 8 a.m. Thursday in the 6900 block of Williams Boulevard/US 151 in Fairfax. They said 30-year-old Aaron Sturtz of Fairfax was driving a pickup when he rear-ended a semi-truck and trailer stopped in the northbound lane.

An air ambulance flew Sturtz to University of Iowa Hospitals with what are believed to be life threatening injuries. Investigators said he was not wearing a seatbelt.

The driver of the semi, 30-year-old Larry Schantz of Middle Amana, was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured. There were no passengers in either vehicle.
