THE MATCH-UP

The University of Iowa soccer team will host Southern Utah Thursday at 7 p.m. (CT) before traveling to Minneapolis for a neutral site matchup with U.C. Santa Barbara on Sunday at 11 a.m.  (CT)at the Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium. Thursday’s competition at the Iowa Soccer Complex is free to the public. 

 THE SERIES

• Iowa and Southern Utah will be meeting for the first time in program history on Thursday.

• Sunday will be the first competition between the Hawkeyes and UC Santa Barbara Gauchos. 

SCOUTING SOUTHERN UTAH

• Southern Utah has yet to pick up a win this season. They have lost all four of their games.

• Three student-athletes have scored goals for the Thunderbirds in their last three contests: Payton Wells, MaKenzie Lawrence, and Brielle Bourgeois.

• The Thunderbirds have seen four different student-athletes in goal.  

SCOUTING UC SANTA BARBARA

• The Gauchos opened their season with wins over Idaho (3-0) and San Jose State (1-0) before falling to No. 1 UCLA, 3-1.

• Amanda Ball was named the Big West Offensive Player of the Week after scoring three goals, and Kate Shoemaker recieved Defensive Player of the Week honors. 

• Goalkeepers Maddie Julian and Brittney Rogers each collected shutouts in their opening week.

UP NEXT

The Hawkeyes return home Sept. 8 hosting Montana for a Senior Night matchup at 7 p.m. (CT) at the Iowa Soccer Complex. Iowa will also host Loyola Chicago on Sunday at 1 p.m. Admission is free to the public for both games.
